When you are looking for a hotel to stay at in Sydney you may feel overwhelmed by the choices. This article will focus on hotels within the central business district. Keep in mind that there are several sections to the Sydney CBD.

The Rocks - This is an up market area of Sydney with many high priced hotels. A beautiful historic area, stay here if you can afford it.

Town Hall/Wynyard - This is the busy business area of town. Cinemas, shops, restaurants and bars are abound. Nightlife is noisy and upbeat in some parts so if you're into that you'll want a hotel near here.

Central/Broadway - This is the student end of town, home to a major University and TAFE campus. Hotels are cheaper here. There are bars and restaurants as well as great bargain shopping.

Darling Harbour - Beautiful location with excellent night life. A great accommodation choice.

East Sydney - This includes the Kings Cross and Darlinghurst areas. Not considered part of the CBD but close enough none the less, these are the chic parts of Sydney.

You can walk the length of the CBD in around 40 minutes. To reach East Sydney you can either walk (it’s around 20-30 minutes), drive or take a train to Kings Cross station.

An excellent hotel in The Rocks is the Harbour Rocks Hotel. It is a 4 star boutique hotel. If you are traveling out of peak times then you might be able to pick up a bargain here. The Park Hyatt is also situated in The Rocks area.

Around Wynyard is the Four Seasons Hotel, another upmarket establishment. Some rooms have spectacular Harbour views so book early if you want these.

The Broadway University Motor Inn is a great budget choice in the south end of the city. If you're staying at Darling Harbour try the Crowne Plaza on Day St or for something a little less pricey consider the Novotel Rockford.

The Formule 1 Hotel Kings Cross on William St, Kings Cross has rooms for under $100 per night. Also in this area is the Leisure Inn Suites and Springfield Lodge.
